Destiny

Something happened 2 nights ago.. or maybe yesterday, whenever we ate at 'R Place.' Steven left early, like a good twenty minutes before I did. As I was driving home, he was in front of me on Rt. 59. We just happened to catch up on the road. Made me think of Benjamin Button lol. How everything has to be precise in time and space for certain things to happen. Had I left earlier or later, had he left earlier or later, had he or I caught a red light, or if we didn't go our certain speeds.... Kinda crazy, maybe I'm looking to deep into it, but thats the first thing I thought of..

insomnia

Yes insomnia at its best!
Anyways, so a friend and I are going to Bean Encounters tomorrow. I havent seen her since high school, but we just started chatting recently and all. It's not a date or anything, but still, theres always something about not having music when someone rides in your car that your not 2 familiar with. Gets me nervous to say the least, so at work I decided there's really only one band to listen to if you are unsure about what to listen to.... The Beatles.
Love them or hate them, (How could you!?) those 4 stylish guys are always interesting to talk about them. Whether you think they are overrated or not, it seems someone always has an opinion about them. Or at least, ppl can discuss their favorite albums, or their favorite Beatle, etc. It also seems like The Beatles have an album out there for everybody, no matter what mood you're in. I don't know, it just seems with any other band, and it could be a hit or miss. Or maybe i'm just too close-minded about music to know better...

Books vs. Audio/Visual/Interactivity

Well I just got MGS 4 for Christmas. I really enjoy the MGS series, and I am an avid gamer. I have already beat the 4th installation in the series, Sons of the Patriots, and the 1st time through, I enjoyed the experience. I have started playing it again, and I noticed that the plot and story seems to be everywhere. It made me think that maybe video games cannot tell a good story, or is exceptionally hard to accomplish it in an intersting manner. I don't think they can hold the person, like a good book or movie. The first twenty minutes couldnt capture my attention at all...
The game will, sometimes in a cutscene, show you a clip of about 3 min. of something very random and nothing to do with anything thats going on. It takes away from the scene and momentum of that very moment in the game, wherever it may be. However, I will take a stab in the dark, and say that this is the director's way of foreshadowing because usually it will tie in later on in the game. Its just an akward way of doing it. It reminds me of an introduction of a book, but only the director doesn't put in the beginning, he puts it in the middle of this, and this, and even this. It just doesnt seem logical.
Another point is that maybe I cannot, personally, take a CGI character seriously when displaying emotion, 'cept for maybe anger. If they display sadness though, its not like readin a book or watching a movie. It just doesn't feel real, and maybe because of that, I can't attach myself to it or 'feel' for it.
I don't mean to sound boring, but the only game to ever make me 'feel' anything was MGS3, but maybe because of the era in which it took place, the Cold War. And I have an attachment with those times, musically, politically, entertainment, etc. etc. And the game seems to hit hard on those subjects.
Anyways, what I think I am getting at is that audio and visuals will never kill a good book.
I like MGS4, it concludes the series up so well. The ending is so epic!
