I've thought about this for the longest time...Woaaahhhh! Hoooooaahhhhh! lol
Valerie once said to me about 'other people' that I don't talk to anymore, that they are windows.
Her point was that when you meet someone, you open up a window, and that window stays open until you have a fallout or stop keeping touch with him/her. Then the window closes. I had a really bad hang up with certain relations and friends, but after she explained that to me, it really helped to get over everything.
Now, though, I feel that way with everyone I talk to. Who knows if me and you will still be friends and talk over coffee. I really enjoy your company, but I have no personal attachments to anyone.
I look at everyone that way, and just think about that window closing one day. I really do like everyone in the circle, but once again, I continually fight with my thoughts that one day, we won't stop to catch up and have that cup of coffee. It troubles me, but in the end, that window had to close sometime, and you and I don't need each other anyways. Life will go on, you and I will both make new friends, see new places, have different experiences, and hopefully, be happy in the long hull.
By the way this post wasn't directed towards anyone specific. It's just my thought process. I love all of my friends, but I consider this my best defense mechanism towards the pains come with separation.

Resolutions and the Times
So Conor blogged a point about elderly conservatism and youth liberalism...
Dan and I talked a lil bit about this on the way up to the New Years Party. Dan made a point that you may not actually become conservative with age, but the times become more liberal. I believe that, but I can say that financially I know I will become more conservative, especially with the addition of a spouse, children, etc. I blow money away now like it does, in fact, grow on trees, but when I'm 42, juggling groceries, diapers, and other assorted bills, I'll prolly be more inclined to squeeze every penny.
And as we all know politics and the times are both run exclusively by money, so desicions will be based on money as well. Who I vote for, and my beliefs and causes will be runned by my wallet, not to say that my experiences and morality won't play a part, but the fact that I have the weight of a family and property on my shoulders might make me turn the other cheek, if that makes me vote for the candidate that will give me a tax cut....
After reading that, I am a jackass
My resolution, and someone mentioned it at the New Years Party, is to read more books than I did last year. It shouldn't be too hard. I only read books based on famous musicians. With this, I hope to continue to expand my mind.
I think its such a great resolution, it's not outta reach like getting those six-pack abs by the summer, or going vegan. It's simple and within my grasp.
I have other resolutions but they won't play a giant role, they're more like small stuff to keep in check.

Destiny
Something happened 2 nights ago.. or maybe yesterday, whenever we ate at 'R Place.' Steven left early, like a good twenty minutes before I did. As I was driving home, he was in front of me on Rt. 59. We just happened to catch up on the road. Made me think of Benjamin Button lol. How everything has to be precise in time and space for certain things to happen. Had I left earlier or later, had he left earlier or later, had he or I caught a red light, or if we didn't go our certain speeds.... Kinda crazy, maybe I'm looking to deep into it, but thats the first thing I thought of..
insomnia
Yes insomnia at its best!
Anyways, so a friend and I are going to Bean Encounters tomorrow. I havent seen her since high school, but we just started chatting recently and all. It's not a date or anything, but still, theres always something about not having music when someone rides in your car that your not 2 familiar with. Gets me nervous to say the least, so at work I decided there's really only one band to listen to if you are unsure about what to listen to.... The Beatles.
Love them or hate them, (How could you!?) those 4 stylish guys are always interesting to talk about them. Whether you think they are overrated or not, it seems someone always has an opinion about them. Or at least, ppl can discuss their favorite albums, or their favorite Beatle, etc. It also seems like The Beatles have an album out there for everybody, no matter what mood you're in. I don't know, it just seems with any other band, and it could be a hit or miss. Or maybe i'm just too close-minded about music to know better...

Books vs. Audio/Visual/Interactivity
Well I just got MGS 4 for Christmas. I really enjoy the MGS series, and I am an avid gamer. I have already beat the 4th installation in the series, Sons of the Patriots, and the 1st time through, I enjoyed the experience. I have started playing it again, and I noticed that the plot and story seems to be everywhere. It made me think that maybe video games cannot tell a good story, or is exceptionally hard to accomplish it in an intersting manner. I don't think they can hold the person, like a good book or movie. The first twenty minutes couldnt capture my attention at all...
The game will, sometimes in a cutscene, show you a clip of about 3 min. of something very random and nothing to do with anything thats going on. It takes away from the scene and momentum of that very moment in the game, wherever it may be. However, I will take a stab in the dark, and say that this is the director's way of foreshadowing because usually it will tie in later on in the game. Its just an akward way of doing it. It reminds me of an introduction of a book, but only the director doesn't put in the beginning, he puts it in the middle of this, and this, and even this. It just doesnt seem logical.
Another point is that maybe I cannot, personally, take a CGI character seriously when displaying emotion, 'cept for maybe anger. If they display sadness though, its not like readin a book or watching a movie. It just doesn't feel real, and maybe because of that, I can't attach myself to it or 'feel' for it.
I don't mean to sound boring, but the only game to ever make me 'feel' anything was MGS3, but maybe because of the era in which it took place, the Cold War. And I have an attachment with those times, musically, politically, entertainment, etc. etc. And the game seems to hit hard on those subjects.
Anyways, what I think I am getting at is that audio and visuals will never kill a good book.
I like MGS4, it concludes the series up so well. The ending is so epic!
